Yoga + religion: A Louisville Baptist leader who is calling for Christians to avoid yoga is getting plenty of pushback from yoga fans who have flooded his inbox, according to an AP story on the Huffington Post this morning.
Albert Mohler, the Southern Baptist Seminary President, says yoga is not a Christian pathway to God and he objects to "the idea that the body is a vehicle for reaching consciousness with the divine."
"I'm really surprised by the depth of the commitment to yoga found on the part of many who identify as Christians," said Southern Baptist Seminary President Albert Mohler.
About 6.7 per cent of American adults are Southern Baptists, according to a 2007 survey by the Pew Research Center Forum on Religion & Public Life.

Samuel Burgos, 8, has been out of school for a year and is being home-schooled by his parents.
"No child should be disciplined in this manner," Magdiel Burgos, Samuel's father, told CNN. "He made an honest mistake, OK. And he's paying dear life for it, and it just isn't fair."
