If you've ever imagined what it would be like to be as rich as an early investor in Facebook, look no further than Sean Parker's $9-million wedding plans.
Parker, the co-founder of Napster and the first president of Facebook, is going to blow a small portion of his estimated $2.1-billion net worth on a wedding that will include costumes for all the guests designed by Ngila Dickson, who won an Academy Award for the costumes she created for The Lord of the Rings.
The real money, however, will be spent on the design of the wedding itself, which is being held at a swank resort in Big Sur, Calif. Parker has reportedly hired a landscaping company to build an $8.6-million disposable set that features a $600,000 gate that will open onto fake ruins, waterfalls, bridges and ponds. Also in the price: $1-million worth of plants and flowers.
Parker recently took to his Facebook page to dispel rumours that he and his fiancée, Alexandra Lenas, were planning a medieval or Hobbit-themed wedding, something the New York Post reported.
"This is NOT a theme wedding and there will be nothing 'medieval' about it," Parker posted. "Academy award winning costume designer Ngila Dickson created a series of outfits for everyone that are based on modern suits and dresses with some elements of Victorian flair and whimsy; however they are not at all 'medieval.'"
Parker also said on Twitter that "just because we don't trust our guests to dress themselves properly," it doesn't mean he wants to have his wedding look like a scene from Game of Thrones.
Maybe this guy will be able to crash the wedding.
