Not that you need more evidence that the rich are different than you and me, but here it is: Gwyneth Paltrow and her husband Chris Martin are looking for a tutor for their two children. One that will earn £60,000 (about $96, 000) for up to four hours a day teaching languages, two musical instruments per child and sports, according to a piece in the Daily Mail.
"The tutor is also said to receive travel expenses, free use of a West London flat and free travel alongside the famous family when they fly overseas," reports the paper. A source added: "They want someone to go with them wherever they need them, be that America or anywhere else."
And while she's sure to take heat, yet again, for living an envious life, maybe Ms. Paltrow and Mr. Martin should embrace the glare.
They could take a cue from Amy Poehler, who recently named her Tibetan and Trinidadian nannies among the people who have influenced her the most, as reported in the Huffington Post. It came off as endearing, not privileged.
At a Time magazine gala honouring the 100 most influential people of the year, Ms. Poehler said:
"And for you working women who are out there tonight who get to do what you get to do because there are wonderful people who help you at home, I would like to take a moment to thank those people, some of whom are watching their children right now, while you're at this event. Those are people who love your children as much as you do, and who inspire them and influence them and on behalf of every sister and mother and person who stands in your kitchen and helps you love your child, I say thank you and I celebrate you tonight."
If Ms. Paltrow and Mr. Martin get the tutor they're reportedly hoping for, it sounds like he or she will be worth celebrating.
