My therapist, Anastasia Shade, starts by applying an aromatic blend of Dalmatian Coast oils and French sea salts to my whole body, setting me up for an energy-boosting treatment targeting areas of fluid retention, cellulite and uneven tone. Her exfoliation technique is as rhythmic and snappy as a Rihanna chorus. Next, a full-body Adriatic seaweed compression wrap cools my skin on a sultry June afternoon. Anastasia's approach to scalp massage is tender and sweet. She assists me to the spa's shower suite, an impressive digital chroma therapy chamber of multiple massage settings. The Spa
Rising 31 floors above buzzing Bay Street , Quartz Crystal Spa eschews the earthy zen trend and goes for broke on a bling-bling aesthetic. While the spa opened earlier this year, a new indoor heated, saltwater infinity lap pool, movement studio, personal fitness training and fully equipped gym will launch in July, completing the urban oasis. For first-time visits, I highly recommend the harmonizing thermal crystal massage with Holly Henderson, the best all-around masseuse in the downtown core. Despite the pomp and glam, there's a polished elegance at this hotel, most evident in the top-notch personal service; it's cordial, but refreshingly unscripted . The only drawback is the surprising downsizing of lockers, more of a cubby hole than a place to hang your pant suit. Poorly planned – especially for winter months – there's no way this locker could accommodate a briefcase, boots or a parka. Spa pilgrims might check into the Trump International Hotel Toronto for the pampering, but they often end up swooning for the steak. That's bound to happen when the spa is mere steps down the hall from one of the city's best ribeyes at Stock, the hotel's signature restaurant.
