How it works
Slip it on over your head, or zip your way in and out like a jacket. In a downpour, I tighten the hood and am grateful for the peaked cap that keeps my face and hair completely dry. Two side pockets have mesh linings and zippered openings, making them a great place to stash a hotel key card, wallet, phone, iPod and a map. A smaller pocket sits above the chest, but it's less accessible and doesn't have a zipper, so I leave it empty.
Pros and cons
The cape is only hip length, so the lower half of my body gets wet. But what is covered is well protected by the cape's water-repellent finish. Moisture simply rolls off and after a few shakes it's bone dry five minutes after I hang it up. The Cloud Cape rolls up easily into the side pocket of my carry on, and I make great use of the nylon bag that's attached to the back of the cape. Snap it off and fill it with your shopping.
Final verdict
The Cloud Cape is a stylish way to cover up during a rainstorm and tote around your stuff; but it won't keep your legs dry during torrential downpours in the Amazon or on a soggy day of sightseeing in the city. $150; lolewomen.com
