To celebrate Parks Canada's 100th anniversary, we asked for your stories and photos. Reader Theresa Wallace writes:
As long as I can remember, I have wanted to take a writing course at the Banff Centre, but until this past April, never had the time or money to do so.
The course was everything I dreamed it might be - great creative non-fiction classes taught by nature writer Wayne Grady, supportive classmates, eight days of writing and reading, meals with other writers in the centre's cafeteria with a panoramic view of the mountains outside the floor-to-ceiling windows, and a pass to whatever was going on at the centre.
Deer grazed right under the balcony of my room in Lloyd Hall. Surrounded by mountains and built so that you can't see the town below, the Banff Centre is an artist's - and an aspiring artist's - paradise, so it's no wonder people come from all over the world to study there.
