Headlamps are crucial for avoiding the many hermit crabs sleeping in the sand after the sun goes down. (Remember, at least one night, in more rustic accommodations, you’ll trek through the sand to get to the washroom after dark.) Petzl headlamp, $39.95 US, rei.com
