The savings: Up to $200 per night.
The catch: The rates are available Jan. 3 to 12 only.
Why it's worth it: It's a less busy time to visit the Big Apple after the hectic holiday season and hotels offering the special rate are scattered throughout the city with new properties this year including Ace Hotel in the Flatiron/Chelsea neighbourhood and the new Jade Hotel in Greenwich Village.

FAMILY SKI DEALS IN SWITZERLAND

The savings: There is free skiing for children and also free accommodation for children at selected hotels in these resorts.
The catch: The promotion is available for children born in 2005 and younger.
