Order on an iPad at Pearson Airport’s new restaurants in Toronto.

Toronto

At Apropos, a new eatery at Pearson International Airport's Terminal 1 (gates F61 and F62), passengers in transit put in their orders via table-side iPads. The high-tech menu is highlighted by signature cocktails with names like Smooth Landing (vodka, sake, grape juice) and Off The Tarmac (bourbon, iced tea, ginger ale, lemon), and sandwiches are made with fresh artisanal ingredients that are more satisfying than an in-flight meal. It's a collaboration between Manhattan-based branding agency Icrave and OTG, a food and beverage operator that plans to add 10 chef-driven restaurants to YYZ by early 2014. torontopearson.com

An upcoming exhibit at Gagosian Gallery in Beverly Hills features the celebrity photographs of Dutch-born, New York-based couple Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. The collection captures their edgy, artistic interpretations of run-of-the-mill portraits and includes striking images of Clint Eastwood, Vanessa Redgrave and Tilda Swinton, above. Highlights include the various dramatically costumed poses of Lady Gaga and a comical Bill Murray with daisies sprouting from his beard. The exhibit runs from July 12 to Aug. 23. gagosian.com
