TEA WITH A TWIST

Los Angeles - Afternoon tea takes French, Asian and North African twists at Café Livre. The café's Lyon-born owner, Farid Zadi, and his wife, Susan, have turned their back patio into an exotic outdoor tea party. The tea tastings are a good way to sample unusual varieties such as pan-fried green and fermented Chinese Pu-erh. Tea is served with such creative accompaniments as tea-smoked duck rilletes, chai-spiced Marcona almonds or tea-quail eggs. For something more substantial, try the Thai Cobb Salad with green curry grilled chicken and pork confit, or the Korean-inspired slow-cooked egg salad sandwich. cafelivre.net/Home.html

Budding rock stars will get access to vocal coaches and session musicians and leave with a CD souvenir of their recording. Extra access is given to members of Fairmont President's Club, the chain's complimentary loyalty program. fairmont.com
