ARIZONA SPA SPECIALS

The buy: Scottsdale is a paradise for spa-goers, especially during the hot summer months when the prices drop.

The savings: 50 per cent or more on some treatments.

The catch: Deals expire at the end of July or August.

Why it's worth it: The spas at several five-star resorts, including Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale at Troon North, The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess, Hyatt Regency's Spa Avania and the Spa at Gainey Ranch, are offering lower prices for all day packages and individual treatments.

RELAX IN JAMAICA

The buy: The Royal Villas at Half Moon in Rose Hall, Jamaica, are on sale this summer.

The savings: A part of the RockResorts' collection of properties, the resort is offering 20 per cent off its four-, five-, six- and seven-bedroom villas with the Royal Summer promotion. Rates for Half Moon's Royal Summer package range from $940 (U.S.) a night for a four-bedroom villa to $1,400 a night for a seven-bedroom villa.

The catch: The Royal Summer package requires a minimum stay of four nights, now through Nov. 17. Why it's worth it: One of the highlights of the property is Fern Tree, A RockResorts Spa at Half Moon, a 68,000-square-foot facility. The resort also features a Robert Trent Jones Sr.-designed 18-hole golf course, a spinning studio, 13 lit tennis courts, equestrian centre, fitness centre and 54 swimming pools. The promotion also offers guests a poolside barbeque prepared by a cook and served by a butler.

YUCATAN SUITE SALE

The buy: Hacienda Petac, a private Mexican estate and spa in the heart of the Yucatan, is offering a Bring a Companion package.

The savings: You get a second suite free.

The catch: You have to book a suite for three nights minimum at $520 (U.S.) a night, now through Dec. 19. Why it's worth it: Meals are included at Hacienda Petac, located on 250 acres in an ecological reserve just outside the city of Mérida, Yucatan. This 17th-century Spanish-colonial estate features a signature Mayan massage at its spa.

TAX CREDIT TRAVEL

The buy: Hills Health Ranch in 108 Mile Ranch, B.C., has put together a new five-night Family Fitness Boot Camp package designed to give you a tax credit.

The savings: Up to $578 for a family of four this year and potentially $1,156 if two campaign promises come to pass. The catch: A doubling of the existing Children's Fitness Tax Credit from $500 to $1,000 is still to be enacted and a new $500 Fitness Tax Credit for adults has been promised - but only after the federal budget is balanced, and that's several years away.

Why it's worth it: The package includes: a three-bedroom chalet, fat-reduced meals, guided hikes, exercise classes, two hours of horseback rides, guided canoeing or mountain biking, fitness and nutrition consultation and a fat-burning workshop. The cost for a family of four is $3,361.
