TV-star skin at home, if you have the time

The promise

Achieve flawless, television-worthy skin at home with this easy-to-use, patent-pending airbrush and disposable pod system.

How it works

Story continues below advertisement

The airbrush makeup formulas -foundation, blush and highlighters - are encapsulated in air pods and easily pop on and off an airbrush wand that allows you to deposit makeup on desired areas of your face in a simple, even movement. Each pod contains up to two months of makeup, is self-sealing and promises to do the job equivalent of four different makeup brushes.

How to use it

Plug in the system, slip the different pods onto the airbrush wand, press the button to release the makeup and glide over your face. For overall coverage, sweep the formula over your face small circular movements. For blush and highlighter, concentrate on specific areas of your face.

The bottom line

This product has all the appeal of a home microdermabrasion kit: it works and it's relatively easy to use, but who wants the hassle of having to assemble it every time and let it take up so much precious bathroom shelf space? Plus, they'll both sting your eyes. The Temptu is a great tool for a makeup artist or the girlfriend everyone flocks to when they need to prep for a big event (we've all got one). But in the real world of busy moms, breakfast-meeting career gals and those of us who simply can't be bothered, this is one product that will collect dust until we finally cave and re-gift it at Christmas time…to the aforementioned go-to girlfriend who will eventually use it on us, natch.

$265 for the system, $65 for two pods at Sephora ( www.sephora.com).
