The News Photographers Association of Canada (NPAC) has announced the nominations in the seventh annual National Pictures of the Year awards competition. More than 1,110 images and 42 multimedia projects from across Canada were entered in this year’s competition. Photographers from The Globe and Mail have again done very well, securing nine nominations in photography and multimedia, including two for Photojournalist of the Year. This recognition speaks volumes for the great work that our staff photographers produce and the Globe's continued commitment to visual story telling. The winners will be announced during the 2012 National Pictures of the Year Gala event, which will be held Saturday, April 27, 2013, in Calgary, Alberta.
