Photo tip for April 12: The composition of the image shows the worker dwarfed by the roof adding scale to the picture. Try loosening up on your composition and adding other elements to add some scale to your pictures.
Photo tip for April 11: The overhead angle gives the reader a view they don't normally see allowing the circle and horizontal lines to frame the subject and move the readers eye through the image. Try looking at your subject from different angles. You might be surprised how different an image can be when shot from different up high or down low.
Photo tip for April 10: Shooting through the trees helps frame the tea pickers bringing attention to them. Try shooting through something to add another element to your photos.
Photo tip for April 9: By exposing for the highlights the photographer lets the shadows fall into darkness drawing the readers eye to the grazing horses. Try exposing for the highlights in your images to give your pictures a different feel and look.
Photo tip for April 6: Lucie Gagnon was sitting in her living room when she spotted the sunset reflecting off ponds in the street. Her photo was selected as the best submission on the theme of water. Why we chose it: Great photos can be waiting for you just outside your window. The exposure and reflection in the puddles are great. Without the water, this photo would not stand out. It took a great eye to even see this shot, and cropping out everything around the road keeps your eye on the subject – water.
