Bankrupt B.C. publisher gets second creditor extension

D&M Publishers Inc., which filed for bankruptcy protection in October, has been granted a second extension for creditor protection. The Supreme Court of British Columbia has given the Vancouver-based publishing house until Feb. 18 to file a proposal to creditors.

The independent publishing house, which includes the imprints Douglas & McIntyre and Greystone Books, initially filed for creditor protection on Oct. 21, 2012, and later received an extension, which was due to expire on Jan. 4.

According to documents filed to the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy Canada, D&M owes a total of $6.2-million to 143 creditors, including authors, literary agents, printers and financial institutions.
