West Vancouver police are searching for two suspects who used BMX bikes in an assault.

Around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, a witness reported seeing a male lying incapacitated on the road in the 100-block of Whonoak Road.

Two other males then approached on their bikes and rode over him, said Constable Jeff Palmer of the West Vancouver Police Department in a statement. One of the men picked up his bike and used it to strike the victim in the head.

The witness approached and the suspects fled on their bikes. The victim, a 57-year-old man, was taken to hospital and released Thursday morning.

Police conducted patrols but the suspects were not located. They are both described as having worn black hoodies with the hoods covering most of their faces, blue jeans, and being 20 to 30 years old. They both had slim builds and one may have had facial hair, Constable Palmer said.

Anyone with information is asked to call West Vancouver police at 604-925-7300.
