Winners in at least six provincial electoral ridings might be nervous this week as Elections BC begins its final tally of all votes cast in the days leading up to the May 14 vote.
The final count double-checks election-night results and includes an estimated 180,000 absentee ballots that were cast by mail or by voters outside their electoral district.
The large number of absentee ballots is enough to alter outcomes in close races such as Saanich North And The Islands, where just 52 votes separate the winning New Democrat from his Liberal challenger, while the Green Party candidate is less than 400 votes behind.
Other districts where fewer than 400 votes separate winner and loser include Coquitlam-Maillardville, Burnaby-Lougheed, Delta North, Surrey-Fleetwood and Skeena.
Premier Christy Clark may also be hoping for a surge of Liberal ballots in Vancouver-Point Grey riding, which she lost to New Democrat David Eby by 785 votes.
Elections BC spokesman Don Main said the final vote count, including absentee ballots, should be released on Wednesday.
