Got a little plot that you'd like to turn into a garden paradise? Choose from more than 40,000 veggie plants, roses, grasses, vines, trees, shrubs, perennials, native plants and more at the famed VanDusen Plant Sale, a veritable nirvana for green thumbs of all levels, from true beginners to master gardeners.

There's a mad dash when the sale kicks off Sunday at 10 a.m. – more than 1,000 people rush the gates in the first 15 minutes – so if you're not looking for anything rare or exotic, show up an hour or two later when the leafy frenzy has subsided.

And if your budget isn't quite as lush as your dream garden, don't miss the Pot Luck tables, where you can pick up all kinds of donated plants, and others that were raised at VanDusen, for just a few bucks apiece.

Just make sure to wear shoes that can get muddy, bring a wheelbarrow, wagon or willing companion to help carry your purchases, and be ready for a short hike because parking is very limited.

Don't know your hostas from your hydrangeas? Ask any green-thumbed volunteer and they'll set you on the right path.

The VanDusen Plant Sale happens Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m . (vandusengarden.org ).
