A man who shot at two apparent strangers on a Vancouver street before turning the gun on himself late Thursday night has died in hospital.

The 34-year-old had jumped from a car on Main Street near 26th Avenue at around 11 p.m. and shot at two men – who have no connection to the suspect or each other – before shooting himself, according to Vancouver police. He was taken to hospital and pronounced dead on Friday morning.

One of the two pedestrians was grazed by a bullet and treated at the scene by ambulance. The other man was not injured.

The gunman was known to police but Constable Brian Montague of the Vancouver Police Department could not say if he had a criminal record.
