He founded the White Stripes, the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather; he launched Third Man Records; and he has collaborated with rock 'n' roll royalty – but this weekend, you can catch Jack White going it alone.
Well, not entirely. Last year the indie rock icon announced the split from his longtime White Stripes collaborator Meg White, and this year released his first solo album Blunderbuss; but he's actually touring with two full bands – one all male and one all female – and which one is playing any given night is only decided last-minute.
Already White is winning rave reviews for the tour, which features blistering rock tunes, blow-to-the-gut blues and touches of down-home country – and while he has always kept his projects judiciously separate, White Stripes fans can take heart, because he is playing some of the famed duo's classics.
