Haida Gwaii is reliant on BC Ferries to transport people and vehicles between the islands and the province. It is also a tourist attraction.

The Northern Expedition, pictured Oct. 3, 2012, was built in Germany and spent 36 days on a 9,900 journey across the Panama Canal. It was the seventh new ship to join BC Ferries as part of their 2007 fleet renewal.
