Residents of Peachland, B.C., remain on alert Monday as a wildfire has forced many of them from their homes. The Globe and Mail asked how you have been affected by this emergency. Below are some of the responses we received:

"Highway 97 was closed for hours Sunday evening. We were stuck in this closure and wonder if correct protocols were observed to close this vital transportation corridor, for which no reasonable alternatives exist."

Don Grant, Peachland

"Had to evacuate on short notice. I did notice the smoke earlier on, but did not make much of it since first reports indicated the location was North of the 97C. In hindsight, I should have started preparing to evacuate on the first sign of billowing smoke, as I would have been able to be more selective in grabbing irreplaceable valuables."

Andre Schoeman, Peachland

"The air is smoky here in Lethbridge, Alberta. It just reminds us that our friends west of here are not as fortunate as we are. We can tolerate this quite easily compared to what they have to deal with."

Ernie Engbrecht, Lethbridge, Alta.
