A teenage boy who was charged with snapping photos during the alleged rape of a 16-year-old girl near Vancouver has pleaded guilty.

The youth, who can't be named, was charged with making and distributing child pornography after what the RCMP described as a gang rape in Pitt Meadows in September 2010.

Crown spokesman Neil MacKenzie says the teen has pleaded guilty to making and distributing obscene material, rather than the child pornography charges, and will be sentenced in the new year.

Mounties have said the girl was drugged and repeatedly raped during a rave on a rural property in Pitt Meadows, where onlookers snapped photos and later posted them to Facebook.

Colton Ashton McMorris was charged with sexual assault and Dennis John Allen Warrington was charged with making and distributing child pornography.

Mounties have said as many as 12 people saw the incident, but investigators complained a code of silence among witnesses prevented them from coming forward.
