An ape mask stolen from a Cirque du Soleil tent in Vancouver on May 31, 2014.

Vancouver police are searching for three men after an ape mask and several other costume items were filched from a Cirque du Soleil tent early Saturday morning.

Police say items are worth an estimated $28,000.

In addition to the ape mask, the thieves made off with a jewelled necklace and a black mask with gold trim.

The suspects broke into the Cirque du Soleil tent at 88 Pacific Blvd., where the show Totem is being staged, at around 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

"We are appealing to the public to help us get the stolen costumes back, because the show must go on," police spokesperson Sergeant Randy Fincham said in a news release.
