A propane explosion on the set of a movie starring Dolph Lundgren sent six people to hospital, including actors wearing makeup and medieval costumes.

The blast happened Tuesday afternoon in Golden Ears Provincial Park, east of Vancouver, on the set of "In the Name of the King 2."

Six people suffered minor burns and one had a broken leg, said Chief Dane Spence of the Maple Ridge Fire Department.

"What made it a little difficult to diagnose these people is that many of them had black face paint on and medieval-type clothing from the movie set," Chief Spence said in an interview.

Chief Spence said it appears the explosion happened as crews transferred propane from a tanker into portable containers. A hose came off the propane tank, and a nearby heater sparked a flash fire.

The RCMP and WorkSafeBC are both investigating.

A staff member answering the phones at DS2 Productions in Vancouver confirmed the explosion happened on the set of "In the Name of the King 2," but offered no further details.

The movie stars Mr. Lundgren and is directed by Uwe Boll.

The first "In the Name of the King" movie was released in 2008 and was based on the video game series "Dungeon Siege."

It had the distinction of picking worst-director award at the Razzies, which honours the worst of Hollywood.

The sequel, according to a brief summary on the Internet Movie Database, follows the story of an modern-day ex-soldier who is sent to medieval times.

Mr. Lundgren's movie credits include "Rocky IV," "Masters of the Universe," "Showdown in Little Tokyo" and "Universal Soldier."

Most recently, he appeared in "The Expendables," which was released earlier this year, alongside Sylvester Stallone, Bruce Willis and Jet Li.
