A 29-year-old Vancouver man wanted in a highway crash three years ago that killed two brothers and paralyzed a third has been arrested after returning to B.C. from Australia.

The RCMP say Ryan John Stewart Miller was taken into custody when he arrived at Vancouver International Airport on Canada Day.

Police say he faces charges of driving without due care and attention in a crash involving a broken down van that had stopped in the HOV lane of the Trans Canada Highway in Coquitlam in November of 2008.

A BMW SUV smashed into the van without braking, killing two brothers aged six and nine, leaving their eight-year-old brother paralyzed and severely injuring two adults in the van.

Police say after charges against Mr. Miller were approved, he left the country for Australia, returning on the long weekend.

RCMP Sgt. Peter Thiessen calls the crash one of the most tragic incidents he's ever been involved in, saying the victims' family has been changed forever.
