Osoyoos Larose Magnum, VQA, Okanagan Valley 2006, $100

A holiday wish: let's drink only magnums, the double-size bottle of wine lovers' dreams. Then give (to yourself, perhaps) this merlot-dominated blend from winemaker Pascal Madevon. Osoyoos Larose is a joint venture with Bordeaux's prestigious Château Gruaud-Larose. Enjoy this one now (decant two hours before serving) or cellar up to 10 years (magnums age well). Ripe red berry depth is potent enough to pair with beef, lamb and wild game. Available at the LDB and private wine shops.
