What the BC Hydro rate increase will do to the average customer’s energy bill

B.C. Energy Minister Bill Bennett has announced hydro rates will be going up starting on April 1, 2014, when BC Hydro customers will see a 9 per cent increase. Click here for the developing story.

In dollar terms, here are the impacts for three different types of customers in the first year, on average:

Residential: $8/month

Small commercial: $20/month

Industrial: $139,000/month
