TASTE

Out There: IlluminaresCreate something that casts light and head for Illuminares, a glowing fest that features lantern installations, roving musicians, fire spinners and a procession.

This year the fest returns to its original home of Trout Lake, and comes with new installations made from glass, metal, plastic and other materials – including giant owls puppets, a backlit First Nations medicine wheel and a pedal-powered musical piece – as well as a fiery finale.

"We are taking innovation to the limit this year," says creative director Azfir. "So as you're going around the site, you'll be thinking, 'What did that used to be?' because we really want people to think about how can you take everyday items and turn them into illuminated pieces of art."
