Reservations accepted online until midnight Saturday (Sunday, viff.org).

Stairclimb for Clean Air

Show your lungs who's boss as you tackle one of Vancouver's most formidable climbs - and raise money for a fantastic cause - at the 10th annual, and 48-storey, Stairclimb for Clean Air, a sky-scraping fundraiser for the BC Lung Association. Then treat your stomach to a post-climb brunch, compliments of the Sheraton Wall Centre Hotel (Sunday, bc.lung.ca).

Canucks Superskills

Watch your favourite Vancouver Canucks go head-to-head against their teammates at the Canucks Superskills Competition, where top players compete to be the fastest skater, most accurate shooter, power play scorer and more. Arrive by noon and you can also catch a Canucks alumni game featuring Moe Lemay, Dave Babych, Garry Valk and others. Tickets are just $10; proceeds go to the Canucks for Kids Fund and the NHLPA Goals and Dreams Fund (Sunday, ticketmaster.ca).

Mohsen Namjoo

Experience the ancient and the modern, east and west, in the music of Mohsen Namjoo, a famed vocalist, composer and setar player who has been dubbed "the Bob Dylan of Iran" - and isn't afraid to step outside well-worn cultural norms (Saturday, ticketmaster.ca). More eclectic sounds from the Middle East? Don't miss infectious beats and hip-hop grooves by Israel's Balkan Beat Box - performing as part of the Chutzpah! Festival (Sunday, chutzpahfestival.com). And make sure to see the VSO perform the Canadian premiere of Doctor Atomic Symphony - made up of music from John Adams's opera about the notorious A-bomb tests in the New Mexican desert (Saturday and Monday, vancouversymphony.ca).

Seedy Saturday

The mercury says it's definitely still winter, but spring is just weeks away - so might as well get an early jump on your garden at VanDusen Garden's Seedy Saturday, where you can pick up heritage and organic seeds from more than 30 growers and enjoy seed-minded activities for the little sprouts. Admission by donation (Saturday, vandusen.org).

Lisa Lampanelli

She has roasted celebs from Jean Simmons to Joan Rivers, appeared on the Tonight Show, and torn a strip off everyone from vegans to the Virgin Mary; now you can catch famed insult comic Lisa Lampanelli. Just avoid the first few rows like the plague (Saturday, ticketmaster.ca). For a performance with reflection of a completely different kind, see Joe Ink's dusk - a dance piece that explores human memory and reality, relationships and surrender (Saturday, firehallartscentre.ca).
