Kanye West's impromptu rant during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Awards is just the latest in a string of stage-crashing antics. Here's how Kanye's outburst stacks up against other celebrity award-show antics:

June, 2009: Perez Hilton faces off with Black Eyed Peas after MuchMusic Video Awards

A scuffle at a MuchMusic Video Awards after-party left celebrity blogger Perez Hilton with a black eye. After a confrontation with Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am at a downtown Toronto club, Hilton left and was allegedly attacked by the group's manager, Liborio Molina. Mr. Molina turned himself in to police and was charged with one count of assault. Mr. Hilton - who posted details of the incident as well as a plea to fans to call police on his Twitter page - persisted in publicizing the fight by sharing links to violence-prevention sources on his website, and entering into a protracted Tweet-off with singer-songwriter John Mayer about whether or not he deserved to be hit. Mr. Hilton was also under fire from The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation, who are asking that the blogger apologize for calling Will.i.am a "faggot" during their argument.

Eminem famously stormed out of the MTV Movie Awards after outrageous gay Austrian TV host Bruno (a.k.a. Sacha Baron Cohen) flew over the audience in a harness and landed on the rap star. But days later the head writer for the awards show settled the debate: the stunt was planned. Comedy writing veteran Scott Aukerman wrote on his blog that the incident was staged and rehearsed in advance.

2006: Kanye rails against loss at 2006 MTV Video Awards

Kanye West crashed the stage at the MTV Europe Music Awards in Copenhagen to complain about losing the award for Best Video to Jeremie Rozan and Martial Schmeltz, directors of the video for "We Are Your Friends" by Justice Vs Simian. Mr. West unleashed a tirade riddled with expletives, Mr. West said he should have won the prize for his video "Touch The Sky," because it "cost a million dollars, Pamela Anderson was in it. I was jumping across canyons."

2004: Elton John slams Madonna at Q Awards

Elton John used his acceptance speech for a songwriting prize at the British music award show to take aim at Madonna. The singer accused the queen of pop of lip-synching and said he was astonished she had been nominated for best live act. "Since when has lip-synching been live?" Mr. John asked the crowd. "Anyone who lip-synchs in public on stage when you pay 75 pounds to see them should be shot." "That's me off her ... Christmas card list," he added. "But do I give a toss? No." Madonna's spokeswoman rejected John's allegations. "Elton John remains on her Christmas card list whether he is nice ... or naughty," Liz Rosenberg told the Associated Press at the time.
