Atwood aims high

Everyone knows that she lives in the Annex, but who knew Margaret Atwood was so worked up about the new One Bedford development, the two-tower condo proposed for the corner of Bloor and Bedford?

Given the option, in a recent interview, of tearing down any building in the world, she nominated the development before it is even built. The reason? "It's too high," the author told the British newspaper The Independent.

Alas, she was more circumspect about another of her bugbears. Asked in the Sunday Independent to name her nemesis, she stated: "A certain Canadian literary critic, whom I suspect of going through my recycling box at night in search of incriminating evidence or empty cosmetic jars."

Sadly, however, she would name no names. The hunt is on.
