There's a recall of Kirkland Signature brand organic lean ground beef over potential E. coli contamination.

The recall was issued Friday by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Costco Wholesale Canada Ltd.

This product has been sold from Costco warehouses in B.C., Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan.

The CFIA said there has been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of the product, but warns food contaminated with pathogenic E. coli may not look or smell spoiled.

Costco, which is based in Ottawa, is voluntarily recalling the beef, which has a UPC code of 4 00000 91873 0 and a best-before date of Oct. 15.

The food agency says that eating the contaminated food could cause severe abdominal pain, bloody diarrhea and could result in seizures, strokes, kidney damage and death.
