Police in New Brunswick have charged a man involved in an alleged confrontation with journalists during a shale-gas protest in Rexton three months ago.
The Mounties say 24-year-old Tyson Peters from the Elsipogtog First Nation was charged Tuesday with three counts of mischief, five counts of intimidation and one count of uttering threats to damage a journalist's equipment.
RCMP say Tyson was arrested Monday in Shediac after three television news crews complained they had been threatened and forced to leave their equipment and media vehicles at the protest site on Oct. 19.
The alleged confrontation involved three journalists and two technicians.
Tyson was also charged with uttering threats towards an employee of a private security firm working in Rexton on Sept. 30.
On Dec. 20, a 36-year-old woman from the Elsipogtog First Nation was arrested as part of the same investigation and told to appear in court on Feb. 26.
