Former Bloc Quebecois MP Rejean Lefebvre is facing sex-related charges involving a minor.

Lefebvre was arraigned in Shawinigan today on charges of sexual assault, sexual touching and invitation to sexual touching involving someone under the age of 16.

Lefebvre was elected in the central Quebec riding of Champlain in 1993 and re-elected in 1997. He later became an Independent MP before deciding to not run in the 2000 election.

The 74-year-old is to return to court Oct. 16.

Three Toronto police officers have been found not guilty of sexually assaulting a female colleague in 2015 with whom they had been partying. A defence lawyer says the complainant’s reliability was the focus of the case.
