The Globe and Mail, and globeandmail.com, took one gold medal and two silvers Monday in the 2012 Canadian Online Publishing Association (COPA) Awards.

The Globe won gold for best digital edition (replica) for its Globe2Go product.

globeandmail.com took two silvers for best overall website with a parent newspaper or broadcasting partner, and for best website design.

The COPAs honour excellence in digital journalism and design from magazines, newspapers, broadcasters and online-only publishers. The Globe was a finalist in eight categories.

Last year, The Globe won two COPAs: one for best newspaper/companion website and one for best newsletter.

The other categories in which Globe journalism made the short list of finalists this year were: Best news coverage (the death of Jack Layton); best blog (Economy Lab); best multimedia feature (Breaking Caste); best cross-platform feature (Giving Changed/Philanthropy); and best data visualization (an interactive feature on Vancouver schools).
