Web journalism by The Globe and Mail has been short-listed for eight industry awards and, by standing so far ahead its peers, guaranteed victory in another.
The EPPY Awards, presented by the U.S.-based journal Editor and Publisher, recognize the best media-affiliated websites across 30 categories. The finalists were announced Wednesday and the winners will be revealed Tuesday.
The Globe's investigative reporting on caste in India is a finalist in two categories. Others finalist nods were given for best site, best design, best business site and best business blog (Economy Lab), along with one for an ambitious project on immigration and another for an ongoing effort to tap expats during the U.S. presidential race.
Globe Drive was the only entrant deemed worthy of a nomination in the category of best automotive site with more than one million unique visitors monthly. Without rivals, its win is assured.
