The aunt and uncle of a 10-year-old boy police say was locked in a London, Ont., bedroom for up to two years are due in court next month.
The two were charged with failing to provide the necessaries of life and forcible confinement after the child was rescued last week in urine-soaked pyjamas from what police described as a squalid bedroom in their house.
Police say they have now been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in court July 10.
Their names are not being released to protect the boy's identity.
Investigators say the youngster was found underweight, malnourished, confused and pale and that he had been living with his aunt and uncle since 2010, when he came to Canada.
Police said Friday they had not yet been able to get in touch with his parents, who live outside the country.
