Earlier: Moncton RCMP remind public to stay indoors, as search continues

The hunt for a heavily armed suspect wanted in connection with the shooting deaths of three RCMP officers in Moncton continued Thursday afternoon. At a media conference, Cpl. Chantal Farrah told reporters that numerous specialized police resources -- specialized tactical vehicles, canine units, and air support -- were focusing on the city's northern Mountain Road neighbourhood.

Cpl. Farrah reiterated a police request that people refrain from disclosing details of police operations via social media. "Just as people at home are following every move, we have to think it's possible that others are doing the same," she said.

Earlier Thursday, a tense standoff outside a Moncton rooming house ended after a search for the suspect in turned up dry. The Mounties warned residents of the Pinehurst subdivision in Moncton's north end to stay inside with their doors locked, and to expect roadblocks, traffic disruptions and school closings today.
