Driver allegedly throws steel block into family car in 'fit of rage'

Charges have been laid following what Halton Region police allege was an "atrocious fit of rage while driving" that injured a driver and two children.

Police say a family was driving along Highway 7 in Halton Hills, Ont., on Monday when a vehicle followed close behind looking for a chance to pass.

The driver did eventually pass, but while doing so, allegedly threw a steel block into the partially open window of the family's vehicle.

The children, aged five and 3 months were treated for glass shards that struck their faces and eyes.

A 27-year-old driver turned himself into police on Tuesday. Edwin Hepburn of Acton, Ont., is charged with mischief endangering life, dangerous driving, assault with a weapon and mischief.
