An overnight standoff in Nova Scotia ended this morning with a man alleged to have fired a gun during a dispute with his neighbour surrendering to police.
At least two men were thought to be with the suspect in Millbrook, a hour north of Halifax, and police were at the scene more than 12 hours. No injuries were reported.
According to the preliminary investigation, police believe the suspect was involved in confrontation with someone living nearby and fired a weapon outside that person's residence. No one was hurt and the suspect retreated to his own home.
Reports of shots being fired brought a heavy police presence and closed an area of Tower Road, which runs off the main highway, just south of Truro.
"With the assistance of the Nova Scotia RCMP Emergency Response Team and crisis negotiators, the situation ended peacefully," police said in a statement Wednesday morning.
