Police raid marijuana grow-op next to Ontario elementary school

Police in St. Catharines, Ont., say they've dismantled a marijuana grow-op in a home next to an elementary school.

Niagara Regional Police say they began surveillance on the townhome early this month and moved in on Friday afternoon.

Investigators say a thorough search of the home revealed an elaborate marijuana growing operation, which was separated into three separate rooms.

Each room had maturing marijuana plants in different stages of growth.

A 34-year-old St. Catharines resident is facing several charges – including production of marijuana – and is to appear in court for a bail hearing on Saturday.
