Prince Charles and Camilla travelled by police boat to an east Toronto park Monday evening to watch a Victoria Day fireworks display with a group of emergency responders.
The invite-only event was part of a three-day Canadian tour that started in New Brunswick and will wrap up in Saskatchewan on Wednesday.
Charles and Camilla arrived at Toronto's Pearson International Airport Monday evening, where they were greeted by a group of dignitaries including Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty. They'll spend Tuesday visiting an assortment of charitable organizations and participating in military ceremonies before hopping on a plane to Regina.
As their boat approached the shore of a cordoned-off area of Ashbridge's Bay on Monday, people crowded by the water to catch a glimpse of the royal couple. Some held cellphones aloft to capture the moment, while others squeezed in close in hopes of a handshake and a chat.
Charles and Camilla took their time greeting people individually before settling down on lawn chairs alongside Mr. McGuinty and Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.
Camilla appeared wearing her third outfit of the day, a navy and white spotted chiffon dress by designer Anna Valentine, coupled with a plain navy blue jacket.
Trevor Ford, president of the Chatham Fire Department union, said he's not a frequent Royal Family observer, but he was intrigued by the invitation to meet the man who is expected to be Canada's future king.
"I came down to see the cool fireworks – and to see Prince Charles," he said before the couple arrived.
