A couple from Quebec died Wednesday after their car collided with a tractor trailer in northeastern New Brunswick.

An RCMP spokesman said 59-year-old Lucille Goudreault was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 61-year-old husband, Henri Goudreault, died later in hospital.

Police said the husband was driving the car when it crashed near Six Roads, in the Tracadie-Sheila area, at the intersection of Pallot Road and Route 11.

Sergeant Marc Beaupre said the preliminary investigation indicates that the car was turning onto the highway when it was struck by the oncoming truck.

He said the couple from Saint-Jean-Sur-Richelieu, Que., were believed to be on vacation when the crash occurred.
