Provincial police were investigating the suspicious death of three young siblings Sunday night after their bodies were found in a family dwelling in a small town in central Quebec.
The three children were two girls, aged 5 and 2, and a two-year-old boy.
Their bodies were found on the top floor of a redbrick duplex on rue Turcotte, a resident street in the central core of Drummondville, about 100 kilometres east of Montreal.
The 33-year-old mother was about to lose custody of her three kids, Radio-Canada reported.
"The mother of the young children is considered an important witness to the events and will be questioned when her condition allows it" police spokeswoman, Sûreté du Québec Sergeant Christine Coulombe told reporters.
Sgt. Coulombe said police were called around 4 p.m. but she could not give more details because detectives from the SQ's major-crimes squad only arrived late in the day. Police had first been called to the scene around 4 p.m.
The TVA network reported that the woman, who was taken to hospital, had separated from her spouse in recent months and that the child-protection agency had been called to the address before.
