Saskatchewan has sent crews and equipment to help British Columbia respond to extensive flooding which is forcing people from their homes.
Several communities along the Fraser River and in the B.C. interior have declared states of emergency and have issued evacuation orders due to high water levels.
Three emergency services officers and an eight-person rapid response team began arriving in Chilliwack, B.C., on Monday.
Equipment sent includes almost eight kilometres of flood barriers, five automated sandbagging machines and pumps.
Government Relations Minister Jim Reiter says Saskatchewan has a lot of equipment on hand from its own flood-fighting efforts in 2010 and 2011.
Saskatchewan, B.C. and other provinces and territories have had an agreement since January to share resources in times of emergency.
It's the first time Saskatchewan has sent assistance under the agreement.
