There's a solution in the works to deal with the carcasses of two, huge whales that recently washed ashore in western Newfoundland — leaving a rotting, smelly mess.
The federal government says it is working with a Canadian museum that wants the whales' skeletons.
The carcasses of two blue whales are near the communities of Trout River and Rocky Harbour.
Fisheries Minister Gail Shea says her department is working on a deal, but she wouldn't disclosed any details.
Shea says federal officials are at the site to keep people away from the carcasses, which could be carrying viruses and bacteria that can make people sick.
A spokeswoman for Shea says it's expected to take a couple of days before the whales are removed.
