Three bodies were discovered in a burning car near Barrie, Ont., on Friday morning.

After a passerby reported the car fire shortly after 5:30 a.m., firefighters extinguished the blaze to find human remains, Ontario Provincial Police Constable Graham Knox said.

He would not reveal the make, model or type of vehicle, but he denied that there was a connection to the missing five-year-old Nathan O'Brien and his grandparents in Calgary. "I can confirm for you that it's not related to the Calgary investigation or anything from Alberta," Constable Knox said.

The bodies were sent for a forensic analysis and a postmortem examination is expected on Saturday.

Constable Knox said police do not know the genders or approximate ages of the deceased.
