Over the next two weeks, The Globe and Mail will unveil an in-depth project exploring an issue that will determine Canada's future prosperity: immigration.

With gaps in our workforce left by retiring baby boomers and the need for a younger, well-educated population, the success of our country depends on us making the right decisions today.

To help find The Immigrant Answer, The Globe invited experts and readers who are themselves immigrants to be part of a special advisory panel on pressing questions: Where are the next Canadians going to come from? How can Canada compete globally for the best and brightest?

And how does Canada have to change in order to foster equality for all Canadians, both old and new?

In recent months, Globe correspondents have been reporting from places as diverse as Calgary, Steinbach, Man. New Delhi and Beijing to paint a portrait of the issues, and identify a way forward.

Now we invite readers to delve into the challenges of immigration by taking a closer look at the current worrying state of immigration and why dramatically increasing the number of immigrants may hold the key to our future success. Share your own immigration story, or learn more about immigration in your area.
