Stephen Harper is sticking to his plan to further reduce payroll taxes by cutting Employment Insurance premiums.
The Conservative Leader is reiterating his government's budget promise to further reduce payroll taxes by cutting Employment Insurance premiums to $1.49 per $100 by 2017.
Harper made the announcement during a campaign swing through southern Ontario.
The Harper government said in this year's budget announcement it would cut EI rates from the current $1.88 per $100 committed to $1.49 in 2017.
Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau said a day earlier that he would also cut rates, but only to $1.65 per $100, in order to bring in other changes to the Employment Insurance regime.
Harper is describing the Liberal plan as a payroll tax hike.
